Inspired by the microhistory trend, this book sets out to illustrate how 150 years of a unique history of a family of winegrowers is embedded in–and contributes to– the larger history of Burgundy Crus. We will explore how techniques and the knowledge of ‘vine and wine’ have evolved between 1872 and 2022, providing a bett er understanding of the issues relati ng to appellati ons and the noti on of terroir. We will see how a climat winegrower worked in the past, how he works today and how he works for the future and we will observe that someti mes everything must change in order for everything to remain the same.

Rose-Marie Ponsot, the author, was born and raised in the heart of the Côte de Nuit Grand Cru vineyards. With a background in Philosophy and aft er a career in Consultancy, she has come back to her roots, and is the fourth generati on to take the helm at Domaine Ponsot in Morey-Saint-Denis. She likes to defi ne her role as one of ‘transmitti ng’ between past and future generati ons and this book is the perfect illustrati on of this.

In collaboration with the historian Guillaume Grillon.
